It’s that time of year again when the 6 nations rugby tournament starts again. Pre-tournament favourites are France with England second and Wales third. Scotland are favourite to come in 5th, just infront of Italy.
Murrayfield stadium in Edinburgh will host both of Scotland’s home matches this time round:-
- Scotland vs France. Sunday 5th February 2006 at 1500.
- Scotland vs England. Saturday 25th February 2006 at 1730
With kick-off against France tomorrow there are still tickets for sale for this match on the 6 nations sub-section of the Scottish Rugby site. I imagine this is because of home supporters having lost a lot of faith in Scotland’s Rugby Union team, that have struggled to make any impact in recent years. But perhaps more significantly is the price of tickets. The cheapest ticket is ¬£30, the most expensive ¬£60 and the middle priced ticket is ¬£45.
Obviously, tickets for the England match are in shorter supply and another allocation will be released via the Scottish Rugby’s website on Tuesday 7th February at 9am. Expect a scramble to get these tickets! Ebay of course has ticket touts trying to sell tickets for the Scotland versus England 6 nations match. One guy is selling category 3 tickets (face value ¬£30) at a Buy it Now price of ¬£150! In the normal auctions there are many tickets available, but the closing prices are around 3 times higher than the face value of the tickets.
Anyhow expect the pubs of the West End and around Murrayfield to be fairly busy pre and post match tomorrow. Viewers in the UK can follow the action on BBC TV and/or radio. To show what Murrayfield stadium looks like from the inside I’ve uploaded a picture below of the Scotland versus Italy match (what a dire affair!) that I went to watch last year:-
