Edinburgh sightseeing with Windows Local Live
As reported in an earlier post Google Maps don’t have, oddly and a little disappointingly, decent resolution satellite imagery of Edinburgh city centre. Thankfully Microsoft’s “Windows Live Local’ has stepped up to the challenge with their interactive website showcasing stunning satellite imagery of Edinburgh. I’ve picked out a few essential Edinburgh sightseeing images below:-
- Edinburgh Castle: not difficult to spot the tourists!
- Dynamic Earth & Palace of Holyroodhouse: unfortunately the satellite imagery was taken before the construction of Holyrood parliament, so only flattened land exists on the image
- Royal Botanic Gardens: pretty impressive detail and you can follow the various paths through the garden
- Calton Hill
- Port of Leith
So a good effort from the Local Live service and it offers plenty of Edinburgh to explore. Pass The POI houses collections of sights from Windows Local Live, that might be worth a look for it’s Scottish content.
