Edinburgh Hogmanay tickets have arrived!

And so a while back I ordered 4 tickets (the maximum available per order) to this year’s Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh. Today they finally arrived; I am numbers 035625 to 035628. And here’s a picture of them:-

Basically you just detach the wrist band from the over sized ticket and that becomes your entry into the closed streets. For those of you that don’t know about the Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh basically every New Year’s eve Princes Street and The Mound are closed off to traffic and entry is only via these tickets. They used to be free but now cost just £2.50, which is treated as an administration fee. Having never been I can’t comment too much on what happens: I was supposed to go two years ago but it got cancelled due to excessive winds and hostile weather :-( However I think there are fireworks, drink, stages, etc. More expensive events happen in the Princes gardens; namely ‘Concert in the Gardens’ and ‘Ceilidh in the Gardens’.

If you would like to get tickets, you can here. I just tried to access the ticket system there and it’s saying “Sorry Server too busy”. So I’m not sure if there are still tickets available. However I did read some ‘entrepreneurs’ were trying to sell their £2.50 tickets for profit on ebay, even though there were plentiful numbers of them left at the £2.50 price. Infact I’ve just done a quick search on ebay and there are 27 listings for Edinburgh Hogmanay tickets, one is closing in just over three hours time and for two tickets bidding has hit the dizzying heights of £2.20! Ha ha… some people will try anything to make a quick buck!!!
