My parents visited Edinburgh recently, although I've never been unfortunately. They did come home full of praise for the fish and chips, although I have no idea if they had them at the Tailend. It's certainly something I'll remember to do if I visit Edinburgh.

Some good ideas here. As a resident, I'd also recommend walking the length of Morningside/Bruntsfield from the clock (Morning Glory Pub) all the way to Bruntsfield Hotel. There are scores of super small shops and cafes and interesting things to see the whole time. We like to start at the bottom (park for free out of the zone beyond Cluny Gardens) then back downhill for the second half! This is a great way to spend a morning and support local businesses or just window shop!

Good list. An addition to #3 - don't forget the Stockbridge Sunday Market is there now. And in addition to #6 - if you are able, a walk up Arthur's Seat is a must :)
