I went for a spot of shopping on Princes St armed with my £2.30 day rider card (giving you a whole days worth of travel on Lothian Buses).
Skipping breakfast meant I was on the lookout for a quick snack and the spacious Chocolate Soup on South St. Andrew Street, Edinburgh looked appealing. I’d never visited before and was impressed with the quick, efficient service and good selection. Some toasted fruit loaf, a gorgeously indulgent banana and toffee muffin and two cups of tea cost £4.60. I think the two servers were German, but am not sure of the history/ownership of the place. They looked to have a good selection of hot drinks and their chocolate based snacks looked worthy of a return visit; especially the three pancakes with chocolate sauce :-)
