A gloomy day in Edinburgh

It seems a shame to start this blog off in such predictable fashion…

However I will. The weather here is absolutely awful. I got soaked walking into work, walking out to Lunch and then walking back home from work. The rain seems to have been fairly consistently coming down for a good 36 hours and it’s only October! Still at least my central heating, gas fire and electric heater provide some comfort. Check out the picture I took this evening of a rather gloomy looking Stockbridge.

On a brighter note I went to ‘A Room In The Town’ for lunch today. The price was £12.95 for three courses. I started off with a Duck & Orange pate, served with a random piece of lettuce and some oatmeal biscuits. I didn’t enjoy it too much. However, the main course of Pork and Leek sausages on a bed of mash potato was spot on, infact, just what is needed in such weather. For desert I had a white chocolate bread and butter pudding: which was delicious. I’m a big fan of ‘A Room In The Town’ with the food always providing choice and quality at affordable prices. Oh and it’s Bring Your Own Booze… which always helps! Although looking at their website the policy is down as BYOW i.e. Bring Your Own Wine. So a little more restrictive than turning up with a crate of Stella :-) My only real gripe would be how cold it was inside: seemingly only the many candles were providing heat.
